El Cerrito Counseling Vision Statement:
Our School Counseling vision at El Cerrito Middle School is to create a supportive and inclusive environment where every student can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. We aim to equip our students with the skills and resilience to navigate adolescence confidently and adaptable and carry those skills through adulthood. Through collaborative efforts with educators, families, and the community, we aspire to foster holistic growth, promoting academic success, emotional well-being, and personal development. Our ultimate goal is to empower our students to become lifelong learners, dreamers, and positive contributors to the world, ensuring that their unique journeys are guided, supported, and celebrated, leading them to successfully graduate from high school and pursue their aspirations.

The mission of the El Cerrito Middle School Counseling Department is to ensure equitable access to a high-quality education that meets the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of every student. Our counselors are dedicated to guiding all students on their path to high school graduation while preparing them for college, careers, and global citizenship. Through a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment, we empower students to achieve success, build resilience, and develop lifelong skills for growth.
Using a data-driven approach, our counselors identify and address gaps in achievement, opportunity, and attainment, responding to student needs through school-wide initiatives, classroom lessons, small-group counseling, and individual support. As a result, students will graduate prepared for postsecondary opportunities, equipped with the academic, social/emotional, and career-readiness skills to thrive in college, the workforce, and beyond. They will also develop the resilience, responsibility, and interpersonal skills required to become compassionate leaders and contributing global citizens.
Every student at El Cerrito Middle School will be encouraged to demonstrate our Redhawk SOAR values: Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect—skills and qualities they will carry with them throughout their lives.
