- Each student should have access to a data-driven comprehensive school counseling program which includes a core curriculum, small group, and individual student support.
- School Counselors will use data to design, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of the school counseling program.
- All students are entitled to a school counselor that upholds the ASCA Ethical Standards in order to create a safe and supportive environment while maintaining integrity and professionalism.

They are confident, resilient, self-aware and socially intelligent individuals who have overcome their barriers in life to achieve their individual success.

The school counseling program at El Cerrito Middle School creates a secure and supportive environment that empowers students to overcome their barriers in life to achieve their individual success. Students will learn to S.O.A.R.: Safety, Ownership, Achievement, and Respect. All students will have equitable access to resources that meet their developmental and individual needs to help reach their full potential. School Counselors will advocate for students and collaborate with stakeholders to create a data-driven school counseling program that prepares students for post-secondary education and career pathways as well as to learn how to have a positive impact on global society.
